Mountain Hare (Lepus timidus). In winter the Mountan Hare changes its coat to white to blend in with the snow. The mild winter of 2013/2014 meant that in the Peak District the Hares stood out significantly against the grass and heather backdrop. Meanwhile in the North on Cairngorm mountain the white coats help the animals hide on patches of snow . In 2015 and 2016 I have also added some images from the winter wildlife guided trips we run in the Cairngorms.. In summer 2017 we have started running osprey photography trips in the mornings followed by the opportunity to photograph mountain hares in their grey summer coats amongst the pink heather !
