Puffins photographed on a trip to Skomer in June 2014 followimg which are shots from the Shetland islands May 2014. This was my first really close up encounter with what are always described as comical little birds. Actually they are hilarious! Flight shots are particularly tricky as litte black dots far out at sea come whizzing in to land with rapidly beating little wings struggling to keep the plump little bird on target: Often this ends with an undignified crash landing belly flop on the cliff top, followed by lots of preening and a nose rub with his/ her partner at the burrow.
